Adele and Florence + The Marchine Lead BRIT Awards Nominations

So much of US popular music are British musicians, Adele, Coldplay, Florence + The Machine and Jessie J are all from "across the pond" so it only makes sense that these artist would topple the awards shows on their own turf.

The BRIT Awards, which is like the UK version of the Grammys and the AMA's, have doled out their annual nominations and national stars like Jessie J, Adele, and Florence + The Machine are some of the names leading the nomination pack.

However, it's 20-year-old singer Ed Sheeran who got the most nominations of all, with four. Sheeran is kind of like The Script meets Jason Mraz meets Ryan Adams. Google him, if you're into that kind of Singer/Songwriting thing, or if you're trying to get over a break-up.

Adele is nominated for British Female Solo Artist, British Single for "Someone Like You," and British Album of the Year. Florence + The Machine is also up for Female Solo Artist and Album of the Year.

The awards show also has a category called the "international" awards, which is basically just so Lady Gaga can have a chance to win something.

Artists in the international categories include Lady Antebellum, Maroon 5, and Jay-Z & Kanye West who are all nominated for "International Group" and artists like Nicki Minah, Lana Del Rey and Bon Iver are all nominated for "International Breakthrough Act."
