Another day, another record set by Adele. Adele’s newest accomplishment is becoming the first artist to ever go double platinum on iTunes. This record was made possible when Adele’s album “21” sold 2 million downloads on iTunes in one year.
I wonder if Adele is just super over it by this point. She has so many accolades I wonder if she just doesn’t care anymore? “Oh really, I’ve sold more albums than anyone ever this year? I can’t be bothered with these low rent music accomplishments anymore, just alert me when I’m more famous than the Queen. Oh I am already? Fine, I'll get out of bed today.”
Also, Adele’s album just celebrated its one-year anniversary but apparently just experienced its biggest sales week ever this week, selling 730,000 copies. The only thing this proves is that there are some people out there who still haven’t purchased Adele’s album…or they are going back for seconds a year later. I wonder who these people are, sitting at home and watching The Grammys and being like, “Who is this girl? She’s great! “Rolling In The Deep”? Never heard of it! I hope I can find this new singer on iTunes!”
In other “Adele being awesome” news, this is her 21st non-consecutive week at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart. This is impressive because the only other woman to come close to that many weeks in the top spot was Whitney Houston for the soundtrack to the movie, “The Bodyguard” in 1992.
So anyways, Adele is super successful blah de blah oh she’s also supposed to perform at the closing ceremony at the Summer Olympics in London.
