Another day, another record broken and set by Adele. Adele’s insanely popular album “21” has just broke another record on the Billboard 200 chart. She is the only Brit to have her album sit in the number #1 spot for 16 weeks, tying her up with the Titanic soundtrack which was released in 1998 and also spent 16 weeks at #1.
Be forewarned: the rest of the story is all about how awesome Adele is, so if you don’t care about her, wait a few minutes and I’m sure there will be a story about Rihanna online.
Just to emphasize how big a deal it is that Adele is setting a record for all British artists, she beat out other classics for record setting weeks like Pink Floyd’s “The Wall” and also The Beatles’ “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.”
Ohh, is that gonna be awkward when Adele runs into Paul McCartney at the Grammys and she’s like, I’m more famous than the Beatles, and he's like, the charts don't lie, and then she's like, wanna write a song together and he's like omigod best idea ever.
According to the BBC, Adele’s 9 million copies sold of “21” is partly responsible for the upsurge in albums sold in the US for the first time since 2004.
Adele is also nominated for 6 Grammys and several BRIT awards.
In other Adele news, her much older boyfriend Simon Konecki, is not married, according to rumors that said that Adele’s new beau is legally married but only separated from his wife. Adele, who is always the one to have the last word, says that her boytoy is totally divorced and everything is just peachy. I don’t think she said “peachy” but you get the drift.
