Adele is the hottest thing to happen to the UK in years. She’s dominating the charts with her album “21”, has two Grammy’s under her belt, and is officially a household name. But she admits she would trade all her fame and success for one thing—her ex.
Adele’s debut album ‘19’ was inspired by an ex who is now suing her for royalties. He claims that he inspired the entire album, so she owns him big bucks. But that doesn’t phase her at all. The one ex she can’t get over is the one who inspired ‘21’.
"I don't think I'll ever forgive myself for not making my relationship with my ex on 21 work, because he's the love of my life,” she told Out Magazine.
She wrote her hit “Rolling in the Deep” the morning after her big break-up. “I never get angry, but I was ready to murder—I went in crying and stuff, and said, ‘Let’s write a ballad.’”
The most shocking part of the interview? Adele said she'd be willing to give up "everything" to get him back.
" ... my career, my friendships, my hobbies. I would have given up trying to be the best. He was my soul mate. ... We'd finish each other's sentences ... we loved the same things, and hated the same things, and we were brave when the other was brave and weak when the other one was weak ... and I think that's rare when you find the full circle in one person, and I think that's what I'll always be looking for in other men."
While fame has been rewarding, she admits that she’s just as insecure as the next girl…if not more. “I would hate it if someone was, like, ‘I wish I was you’ because I’m as insecure about myself as the next person.”
In what way? “Just that I’m not good enough -- in my music, in my relationships, and that I’m never going to be brave enough to tell someone how I feel.”
Adele is only 23, and while she may be wise beyond her years, she’s at the age where she can be experimenting with love. By 25 she’ll find soul mate #2 and move on. But the tortured soul thing is kinda sexy.
