Adele On Vocal Cord Surgery: 'It Felt Like Something Popped In My Throat'
February 8, 2012 by: KRISTIN WONG

The singer had to cancel the rest of her tour dates after developing a polyp on her vocal cord that had hemorrhaged. Adele recently opened up to Anderson Cooper about her experience.
“It felt like someone put a curtain over my throat," the star said of her French radio performance. "It felt like something popped in my throat." After going to some doctors and realizing that her throat had basically exploded, Adele says:
"I had laser surgery. [They] put lasers down your throat, cut off the polyp, and kind of laser your hemorrhage back together and fix it." The singer says she was then forced to write messages on a notepad to communicate. Then, she got high-tech.
"I had an application on my phone that you type the words into it and then it speaks it," says Adele. So basically, like a pocket Steven Hawking app.
"But the great thing is I love to swear. Most of [the apps] you can't swear on, but I found this one app where you can swear, so I'm still really getting my point across."
Adele recuperated from her surgery by going on vacation with her new boyfriend, Simon Konecki, in the Florida Everglades. The Grammy Award nominee is scheduled to return to the Grammy stage at Sunday’s Awards show.
But she doesn’t have any plans for a concert in the near future. "If I decide to go on a 200-date world tour, it would happen again.”
