Akon Pleads Not Guilty
December 3, 2007 by: BRIDGET DALY

Hip hop artist Akon is pleading not guilty to minor criminal charges after being accused of tossing a teenage fan off the stage during a concert in upstate New York earlier this year. And now a woman is telling the media she suffered a concussion when struck by the young fan.
"It was never Akon's intention to violate the law," his lawyer Benjamin Brafman said in a statement. "This unfortunate incident was a spontaneous reaction during a live concert that Akon deeply regrets."
Sounds to me like Akon needs to revisit the definition of audience participation. If convicted, Akon faces up to a year in prison. Ironically, his last album, featuring "Smack That", is called Konvicted.
