Amy Winehouse’s family and friends mourned the loss of their daughter outside her London home over the weekend as hundreds of fans watched on with tears in their eyes.
Her father Mitch thanked fans for coming to lay flowers, candles and handwritten notes.
"I can't tell you what this means to us. It really is making this a lot easier for us," Mitch said. "We're devastated and I'm speechless, but thanks for coming."
Mitch and Amy’s mother Janice walked along the flowers, read the notes and looked at all the drawings. Amy’s boyfriend Reg Traviss was also there quietly mourning the loss of his girlfriend.
Over the weekend they released a statement saying they have "been left bereft by the loss of Amy, a wonderful daughter, sister, niece. She leaves a gaping hole in our lives. We are coming together to remember her and we would appreciate some privacy and space at this terrible time.”
Amy died alone in bed on Saturday. Her body was found on July 23, 2011 at 3:54pm. Two ambulances were called to Amy's London home in Camden, London. Shortly afterward, the Metropolitan Police confirmed her death. She was only 27 years old. Rest in peace Amy, you’ll be missed!
