Inside Arcade Fire's Secret Show at Capitol Records

On Tuesday Oct. 29, Arcade Fire appeared on the rooftop of the Capitol Records building in Hollywood, California to celebrate the release of their new album, Reflektor. The show, a secret performance, boomed down both Vine Street and Hollywood Boulevard marking the occasion with pageantry, Haitian rhythm, and whole a lot of glitter confetti.

Over the past month, adoring fans have participated in challenges on social media in hopes of landing a ticket to the show. The lucky few who received tickets were encouraged to "Be a Reflektor" for the performance. Fans arrived in face masks, suits and dresses that caught the lights with their disco ball-inspired attire.

Like the ecstatic glitterati cutting a rug in the parking lot, the album's appeal is a welcome departure from the rock band's subdued introspection on 2010's The Suburbs. This time, the indie darlings opted instead for a little frivolity, Caribbean accents and an open invitation for everyone to get on the dance floor.
