The US Marine band will open the ceremony, which will be held on the west side of the US Capitol. After a few opening remarks from California Senator Dianne Feinstein, Aretha will take the stage. She’ll be followed by Yo-Yo Ma and Itzhak Perlman, who is a world-renowned violinist.
And Obama himself was involved in the musical artist selection. Think he picked well? Feinstein said in a statement, “I am delighted to announce this superb lineup of participants in the 2009 inaugural ceremonies. The inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama will be an event of historic proportion. It is appropriate that the program will include some of the world's most gifted artists from a wide range of backgrounds and genres."
What do you think of the musical selections for the presidential inauguration? Beyonce must be a little upset cause she repeatedly expressed interest in singing for Obama's Inauguration.
