This week, we take a close look at 5ive Star.

A South Florida native, the artist describes himself as a “gifted vocalist, songwriter and lyricist.” His music is a well-traveled and dense resonance of hip-hop/pop fusion you may not necessarily come across with any other artist.

“Making music is as natural to me as breathing.  It’s the result of realizing my true self,” 5ive Star says in a statement on his official site.

At the ripe age of 25, 5ive Star already has a solid foundation to stand on, first turning heads for his efforts as a spoken word artist.

Since then, he’s collaborated with Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Kanye West and John Legend, adding to his multi-dimensional sound.

5ive Star strives for originality through inspiration in his songs. Noted producer Ken Lewis, who collaborated with him on his forthcoming album I Am… 5ive Star, describes the up-and-comer’s appeal as universal.

“The album is about making great music!” said Lewis.  “It’s for all music lovers. I Am…5ive Star represents a blend of music and styles that are totally original.”

If you’re in the business of associating acts, 5ive’s eclectic fusion mix could perhaps most accurately be compared to that of Nicki Minaj, who just happens to be the subject of his newest single, “Nicki.”
