Ryan Cabrera: The Hills Is Not My Thing

Ryan Cabrera got a little taste of what it’s like to be a reality star this year when he appeared on a couple episodes of The Hills--and he didn’t care for it!

We caught up with the super sweet (and really cute!) ex-boyfriend of Audrina Patridge at the Bing Celebration of Creative Minds event, and he gave Hollyscoop the EXCLUSIVE scoop on his upcoming album, being on The Hills, and his take on Speidi.

Audrina Patridge and Ryan Cabrera Break Up

As far as music goes, Ryan is busy working on his next album, which is the first one in over two years. He told us, “I’m in the studio working on just rounding out the sound of the new record. It’s going to be kind of different than the last couple of albums. There was a couple clips of the new stuff out already but we are still working every day to figure it out.”

We saw the scene on The Hills where Cabrera played some of his new stuff at Wango Tango. What’s funny is that he never even watched the episode! Wango Tango? That, I think, I don’t know what they played. “I haven’t seen it,” he said. “They might have played some new stuff or some old stuff. It’s definitely different than the first record.”

Ryan told us the new album is “all up beat dance, pop, rock. It will be fun. I don’t dance but its more upbeat.” He also added that he’s “working on a couple of collaborations, we are not going to talk about it yet, but there are two collaborations on the record with artists.”

We can’t wait to find out who they are! In the meantime, we had to ask Ryan what was it like being on The Hills, now that we know he won’t be returning. “Very weird,” he told Hollyscoop. “Not my thing.”

He explained that he’s ok with the cameras, but not with the set-ups and scripting the production does. He explained, “It’s not that. I’m just not used to that but they way they do things now, I’m not used to it. It’s different than what I’m used to.”

We didn’t pin him as a friend of Heidi and Spencer’s, but we had to ask if he kept in touch with them at all. “I was never really friends with them,” he said. “You know how those things go.”

Sounds like Ryan really is a nice guy. And he’s definitely not catty enough to get embroiled in show drama. It’s too bad he and Audrina didn’t work out. We’re excited about the new album!
