One of the biggest electronic music festivals took place at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway this past weekend. Over the course of three nights, 400,000 attendees danced away to the sets of 197 DJs. People flocked from all around the US and 40 different countries to attend the 18th annual Electric Daisy Carnival.
Unfortunately, one 24-year old man collapsed in the parking lot on his way out of the event early Saturday morning. Montgomery Tsang from San Leandro, California was rushed to the University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Tsang’s autopsy yielded inconclusive results.
Insomniac Events spokeswoman Jennifer Forkish had this to say:
"We are deeply saddened by this news, and hope that everyone will join us in keeping his family and friends in their thoughts during this very difficult time. Dance music fans pride themselves in being part of a loving community and, as we get ready to start the second night of the show, we ask everyone to help us keep this event safe."
On the first night, 249 people received medical treatment and five were hospitalized. On Saturday night, 311 medical calls were made and twelve people were rushed to the hospital.
Music festivals are awesome. If you are going to attend one, PLEASE TAKE PRECAUTIONS TO STAY SAFE.
