Superstar DJ Avicii has just announced that he is canceling all his tour dates due to growing health concerns. This means Avicii will have to cancel his headlining spot at TomorrowWorld later this month, an Asian tour in October, and Las Vegas residencies at XS and Encore Beach Club.
According to a statement released from his management team, Avicii's tour dates are put on hold so that "he can fully recuperate from lingering health issues related to surgeries that removed his gall bladder and appendix earlier this year."
Sadly, this is not the first time Avicii has cancelled performances due to health issues. This spring, Avicii could not perform at the Ultra Music Festival as well as his own Avicii-themed hotel at SLS South Beach in Miami due to the same surgeries. The recovery from these surgeries also resulted in him having to call off his Las Vegas residencies in April.
Rumors have been swirling about Avicii's alcohol dependence problem, and his recent surgeries have only confirmed what everyone's been thinking. He has even admitted several times in interviews that his drinking has landed him in the hospital. "You are traveling around, you live in a suitcase, you get to this place, there's free alcohol everywhere - it's sort of weird if you don't drink. I just got into a habit, because you rely on that encouragement and self-confidence you get from alcohol, and then you get dependent on it," Avicii said to GQ last year.
Avicii is currently taking it easy in his hometown of Stockholm, Sweden to regain his "strength and physical well-being" before the release of his album in 2015.
Get better soon, Avicii.
