Other names being thrown around include Britney Spears, Janet Jackson, LaToya Jackson, Katy Perry, Mariah Carey and Fergie. This hasn’t been confirmed, but I’m pretty sure LaToya Jackson started that rumor herself.
TMZ claims that Lavigne is one of the frontrunners and that negotiations have already started.
Apparently when Lavigne made her music debut, nearly 10 years ago, she was signed to Arista Records at the same time X-Factor judge LA Reid was head of the company.
This connection has Avril hopeful that she’ll be added to the show’s judge’s panel.
Also, Avril’s camp is hoping that Avril’s success, as a teen popstar will help her relate to the young contestants and “show them the ropes.” Fun Fact: Avril was only 17 when her debut single “Complicated” hit the Billboard charts.
Also, Avril performed on the last season of The X Factor with finalist Chris Rene. However, it was a pretty weak performance, so I’m surprised she even wants to return to the show.
Maybe when you hide behind the judges table it’s not as nerve-wracking as performing live, unless you pull a Nicole Scherzinger and by that I mean, try to get on stage as often as possible.
