In a rare moment, someone denied their invitation to join the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Axl Rose of Guns N’ Roses was supposed to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this Saturday at the gala event, but the rocker wrote a letter to officials saying he absolutely wanted no part in the event.
“I respectfully decline my induction as a member of Gun N’ Roses to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I strongly request that I not be inducted in absentia and please know that no one is authorized nor may anyone be permitted to accept any induction for me or speak on my behalf.”
Now, I don’t know much about Guns N’ Roses, because I’m not 50, but I think that all the former members of Guns N’ Roses have beef with one another, so Axl, I think, assumed it would be a slap in the face to his former bandmates if he got into the Hall of Fame without them?
“I certainly don’t intend to disappoint anyone, especially the fans, with this decision," says Axl, "Since the announcement of the nomination we’ve actively sought out a solution to what, with all things considered, appears to be a no win, at least for me, ‘damned if I do, damned if I don’t’ scenario all the way around.”
Anyways, there were rumors that the band might even reunite at the induction ceremony but according to former Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash, “Axl hates my guts. It’s over a lot of different stuff; I don’t even know. There’s just no communication between us.”
