Bachata Music Star Romeo Santos Steams Things Up at Staples Center

Bachata music star Romeo Santos, formerly of the Spanish-language group Aventura is a ladies man, a Michael Jackson fan, and is buddies with Will and Jada Pinkett Smith.

The 30-year-old Latin music star kicked off his performance at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Wednesday by drawing attention to the fact that he is, the KING. Like Elvis was the King of Rock, and Michael Jackson was the King of Pop, Romeo Santos is the King of Bachata music.

He began the show sitting in a throne, playing the guitar, and eventually putting on gold gloves and imitating Michael Jackson’s iconic dance moves, complete with a crotch grab. He joked to the audience, “I always wanted to do that in LA.”

He then pointed to the front row, where none other than Jada Pinkett Smith was enjoying the show. Santos is reportedly working on a project with Will Smith and he has his own ABC sitcom in development.

Santos is a total ladies man and kind of a flirt. He toasted the audience and said, “Want some of this?” and then pointed the Jumbo-Tron cameras to his crotch.

He also has a tradition of bringing women on stage and giving them a very memorable lap dance. Use your imagination, but these women usually leave the stage in tears and completely red in the face.

At the end of the night, Romeo addressed the audience as his “soldiers” and called himself the “King of Bachata Moderna” music.

He said this in Spanish, but it roughly translated to. “The only King is up here, I’m talking about something called Bachata Moderna and I’m the mother f-cking king and you guys are my soldiers. With your permission here in LA, the king wants to dance for you tonight.”
