Bette Midler once famously sat in a wheelchair dressed as a mermaid and sang the Broadway classic “New York, New York.” In the performance, she was joined by 10 other wheelchair bound mermaids who then performed a mermaid kick line with Midler.
I’m not joking, you cannot make this sh-t up.

Didn't take long for Caesar's to replace Celine Dion, whose show A New Day lasted five years. There's a new showgirl in town, and her name is Bette Midler.
She's currently putting the finishing touches on her five-room, two-bath subterranean dressing room, the place she'll get to know very well in the next two years.
Bette's 90 minute show will be called The Showgirl Must Go On, and will run five nights a week starting February 20th. Unbeknownst to me, the desert isn't the best place for a singer, and many suffer from "Las Vegas Throat."
Celine reportedly gave Bette the names of all her doctors, and advised her not to talk during the day. Celine also told Bette about the humidifiers and vaporizers she had installed everywhere. Sounds crazy! But at the end of the day, Vegas has been a great place for so many performers, and I think Bette will fit right in.
