It has been years since we found out about a new band on the radio. That medium is always at least a few weeks behind and usually stuck in a 1990s purgatory of Green Day and Marcy Playground. But the second we heard the beefy disco bassline of Big Data's "Dangerous" coming through the airwaves on KROQ, our ears were keenly peeled until the very last beat. The song is kind of perfect. Simple, classy, catchy, and guest singer Joywave's vocals must be giving David Byrne the chills.
In a way, it is fitting that we heard these guys through terrestrial radio because their whole shtick is based upon a fear of modern technology. Well, the repeat button fears Stereotude now because "Dangerous" has left ours busted. Although the track first hit SoundCloud 11 months ago, we're gonna take the liberty and declare this an early frontrunner for the Best Indie Rock Track of 2014.
