Album Releases: Bloc Party, Parachute, Plus More

We’re knee-deep in the sweltering month of August and musically speaking, we’re in a weird lull period between new albums coming out from big acts. Early summer or fall drop dates appear to be the coveted times for big releases. Which is fine, this break allows some of the smaller stars to shine.

Bloc Party - The Nextwave Sessions. Via Frenchkiss Records, this release opens with their new track “Ratchet,” which we were first introduced to in June with a very trippy music video. Five songs on the tracklist, five never-released cuts.
Parachute - Overnight. This Virginia band has been getting a lot of buzz thanks to this release, their full-length delivery. If late summer has a sound, this is probably it. Via Mercury Records.
Washed Out - Paracosm. It’s pleasant electronic-infused weightlessness that Sub Pop artist Washed Out delivers on this sophomore LP. Fans who appreciate dreamy weirdness like Grimes will dig this.
Glen Campbell - See You There. Where exactly is “There”? Guess you’re going to have to tune in to find out. But, be warned, this country artist’s warm and creamy vocals will draw you in and hold you tight. Via Surfdog Records.
