Britney Opening VMAs

Everyone has been wondering whether Britney Spears will be performing at the VMAs next week. Well, one thing we do know is that she will be opening the show with "some type of performance."

"MTV has long played an important role in my career," Spears said in a statement. "How can I not be there to kick off their 25th VMAs?

"I'm excited to open the entire show, to say hi to my fans and to be nominated," she adds.

Wow, Britney has spoken for the first time in months! We wish she performs at the award show!

The VMAs air on MTV this Sunday from Los Angeles at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
