Britney Paid $4.5 Million to Sing

This past Saturday, someone you’ve never heard of had a birthday party in Las Vegas that brought out various Hollywood names you hear of all the time.

In what can only be described as a whacky scene from the next Zoolander movie, the birthday billionaire—a Chinese man who goes by the name “Jay Lo”—summoned elite stars like Robert De Niro, Jamie Foxx, Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, Michael Phelps, and more to attend his birthday bash.

It was extravagant even for celebrity standards. There were 20 oompa loompas running around the party for the mere sport of having oompa loompas running around your party. Cocktails were crafted from bottles of Cristal from a 24-foot bar carved entirely out of ice. There was a massive INDOOR Ferris wheel. Britney Spears sang the “Happy Birthday” song to Jay Lo for a reported total of $4.5 million, which means she was paid a handsome $264,705 per word. As easy as birthday cake.

Britney wasn’t the only singer who was part of the 300-person VIP-only guest list that sang a little tune for the celebrated Jay Lo. The party, which was essentially its own private concert, included twenty-minute sets from Psy, Red Foo & The Party Rock Crew, Busta Rhymes, Q-Tip, Pharrell Williams, Swizz Beatz, Ludacris, Chris Brown, Usher, Kanye West, and Jaime Foxx.

According to one anonymous source who spoke with CBS Local the “security was matched only by what you would imagine from the Secret Service. Guests and celebrities understood photos were totally off-limits.” The source also said the party had a strict dress code. “Everyone, including celebrities and talent, were required to wear either a tuxedo or a red dress.”

Given the no-photo policy, there is a possibility of your plebeian eyes setting sights on the tent's interior. There were reports that a scene from the next Hangover movie was being filmed in the ultra private tent set up outside the Wynn—Bradley Cooper and Zack Galifianakis was also in attendance.
