Britney Spears is doing a free concert! You'll just have to get to Mexico City to see it. Following in the footsteps of Katy Perry, who gave a free concert for fans in LA at the Staples Center a week ago, Britney Spears will wrap up her worldwide Femme Fatale tour with a free concert in Mexico.
The show will take place this Sunday Dec. 4 at the Monument to the Revoltion as a sort of free Christmas Show. A giant Christmas tree will go up, an ice rink will set up and artificial snow will sprinkle over the concert. Hey, Britney Spears is bringing Disneyland to Mexico City.
"I've had so much fun and received so much love from my fans all over the world while performing my Femme Fatale tour which I am grateful for. I want to return some of that love so I've decided to give my fans in Mexico a special night and perform my Femme Fatale show for free,” says the pop star.
Britney will also be honored with a statue as part of the celebration. The government of Mexico actually tweeted about the performance which translated to, "I want to confirm to you all that Britney Spears will be performing on Sunday 4 at 7PM at the Monumento a la Revolucion to kick off the Christmas holidays."
In the past, Shakira has performed at this venue, also for free. Britney is already scheduled to perform 3 other paid shows in Mexico beginning tonight. Tonight she will be performing in Guadalajara. On Saturday she's playing again in Mexico City, also not-free. She wraps up her Mexico tour on Tuesday Dec. 6 in Monterey.
Fun Fact: The venue where Britney is to perform for free is the same place where 13,000 set a Guinness record in 2009 by dancing to Michael Jackson's thrilled.
Britney is currently touring South America on her Femme Fatale tour and wraps up on December 10, 2011 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Britney also turns 30 tomorrow! According to friends, this is a very good year for the popstar.
"Britney is really looking forward to turning 30. She is having one of the best times of her life,” a source tells Us Weekly.
Aside from a birthday and the end of a world tour that lasted 79 dates, Britney's boyfriend Jason Trawick could potentially be popping the question. And by popping the question, I of course mean, "wanna get hitched?"
“They’ve been talking about marriage for a long time. It would be surprising if they are not engaged by the end of the year,” says the source.
