Want a #1 song? Put Britney in it, bitch.
will.i.am, along with his producers and Ms. Spears have a lot to “Scream and Shout” over today—17 reasons, in fact. The lead single off his forthcoming album #willpower has already hit the #1 chart position on iTunes in 17 countries, following the premiere of its music video on “X Factor” this week.
will.i.am took to his Twitter to retweet the hashtag-worthy news, informing his followers of its quick achievement and of course had to “let it all out,” writing: “Wow!!! I feel so excited and full of energy right now!!! I want to #screamANDshout….Thank you all…”
In the face of criticisms for its lackluster production value and divisive Eurotrash vs. Eurotrashtastic sound, “Scream and Shout” is already slated to be an international radio hit it seems.
Like Britney commands in the track, fans were at the ready to download upon its release and “turn this shit up.” Hate it all you want now, but like every Black Eyed Peas song, it’ll get played to death on the radio (somehow) and brainwash us all into knowing the words. “I Gotta Feeling,” much?
But let’s be real, this overnight success wouldn’t have happened if it weren’t for Britney. It’s a will.i.am song, technically, but that’s not stopping everyone, from hardcore fans to casual listeners, from embracing the tune and calling “Scream and Shout” a Britney jam. She reigns supreme.
