The country-pop diva blew us away with her performance of “Blown Away.” The song is the title track off her new album of the same name and it's expected to debut at number one on the “Billboard” charts next week.
Since American Idol voted off its resident country star Skylar Laine, Carrie stepped in to fill the country void.
She’s come a long way since “Before He Cheats” and by that I mean, Carrie Underwood is way more well-adjusted now. Now her songs don’t suggest trying to commit car homicide on a cheating boyfriend.
“Blown Away” has all the markings of a great country song. It’s got word for word retellings of troubled upbringings, zero attempt at metaphor or symbolism, and a chorus that allows the female singer to show off that they can “belt.” Also, wind machines. Lots and lots of wind machines were happening on the “Idol” stage last night.
Also, Carrie Underwood is slowly morphing into Faith Hill. White dress? Check. Flowing platinum blonde hair? Check. Surrounded by a cloud of smoke? Check Check Check.
After her performance she told Ryan Seacrest, “The ‘Blown Away’ tour starts this September, tickets go on sale on May 11.”
Can you believe Carrie Underwood won American Idol 7 years ago?! Has it really been that long? Are we really that old now?!
