It’s no surprise that the there are A LOT of reality competition shows about singers. The holy trinity of singing competitions are The Voice, The X Factor, and American Idol.
However, even though American Idol is a very popular show, it’s ratings have gone way down since past seasons. Heck, The X Factor didn’t get the kind of eyeballs that Simon Expected it would.
So we had to wonder, is the success of The Voice to blame for Idol’s ratings drop?
Stereotude caught up with The Voice mentor Cee Lo Green at the Escape To Total Rewards concert in LA, and he revealed the drama surrounding the competition amongst the competition shows.
“I wouldn’t want to compare it [The Voice] to anything because you know it’s so different from either one of the other shows,” says Cee Lo Green, “You know it’s its own premise, its own time and space. I believe it’s a co-existence more than it’s a competition and that’s the way I see it.”
Well, how’s that for a politically correct answer?
However, he does think his own show is “very, very great.”
“The Voice is a very, very great show and I’m privileged to be apart of it,” says Cee Lo.
As for the competition within the show, how are Cee Lo’s singers shaping up against the other mentors?
“Oh I got the strongest team this season, I think I’m going to win.”
