Cheryl Cole Bombs Diamond Jubilee Performance

Yikes… sounds like someone’s got a sore throat... Or they’re tone deaf… Both?

Cheryl Cole and Gary Barlow took the stage at Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee celebration. The duet assumed the task of performing a cover of Lady Antebellum’s hit “Need You Now.”

The result? Pain… And a lot of it from Cheryl’s direction.

Now, I can imagine anyone singing in front of the Queen would be a little nervous. But nerves aside, there was something seriously wrong here. The pitch was off throughout the song and the overall performance was about as exciting as a behind-the-scenes docu-series on “The Making of C-Span.”

Seriously… this showcase was as dry, barren, and scarce… No energy in sight.

That’s not to say the former “X Factor” Judge didn’t look all sorts of hot. Cheryl killed a form-fitting black mermaid ensemble that let her curves to shine.

The problem might have been that it was too tight… Meaning she couldn’t move.

Cheryl is known for her dance moves in vigorous hits like “Call My Name.” The Lady Antebellum cover deviated from her strengths (her body and how she moves it) and exposed her weaknesses (everything else).

She has come under heavy fire from viewers put off by the upsetting performance. UK’s Daily Mail tracked the responses:

One viewer tweeted, “After watching The Queen's Jubilee, I've come to the conclusion that Cheryl Cole couldn't carry a tune if it had a bloody handle.”

Another added, “So Cheryl Cole can't sing. I think even the autotune computer gave up on her.”

And, finally, “Is that Cheryl Cole singing or is it a dying cat?”

I’d defend her, but not even that body can do much to make up for the shoddy showing. Sorry Cheryl… We still love you, though!
