Nicole Scherzinger has officially replaced Cheryl Cole on the US version of reality talent competition show, “X-Factor.”
There are some of you wondering who the heck Cheryl Cole is. Cole gained fame as a member of UK pop girl group, Girls Aloud that is kind of the UK equivalent of The Pussycat Dolls. Basically, Cheryl Cole is to Girls Aloud what Nicole Scherzinger is to The Pussycat Dolls. They are kind of the same person, ‘cept one talks with an accent and the other one doesn’t.
Cole joined the judges of the UK X-Factor in 2008 when she replaced Sharon Osbourne. She was supposed to be a judge on the US version of X-Factor and even filmed several days of auditions when she was fired from the show and replaced by Nicole Scherzinger, who was originally hired as a co-host for the show.
So after some confusing lateral promotions and inter-office change-ups, Cole no longer works for the US X-Factor and Scherzinger has moved from Co-host to Judge. Got it? Good. Moving on.
Cole was given an offer to return to the UK X-Factor, which she declined, however I’m not sure where she’d return to as UK X-Factor has already begun auditions and their judging panel is fully stacked with four judges.
It’s not all bad news. Cheryl Cole reportedly has a pay or play contract. Which means that she will get paid whether or not she works as a judge on X-Factor. She still receives $1.5 millions dollars to not work. Unemployment? More like, FUNemployment.
