Chris Brown Named Artist of the Year

Chris Brown has had a good year. He’s been killing it on the charts, is dating, or should we say really good friends with the amazing Rihanna, and now he’s been named artist of the year! Billboard has crowned Chris number one for 2008.

When Chris found out about the honors, he said, "It's bigger than what I can ever imagine. It's unexpected totally, so it's a surprise. I've had a good year but I still feel like a little insecure in those parts. I'm like, `There's little ol' me getting an award' — that's incredible.”

That’s what we love about Chris. Always so humble, and not flashing his fame around like other musical artists.

The artist's rankings are determined by album sales as well as digital downloads, radio airplay and Internet streams. The number two artist is Lil Wayne, who also had a huge year number three on the list was Rihanna, whose big hit Disturbia was co-written by Brown.

Rounding out the top five were Alicia Keys and Taylor Swift. Congrats, Chris!
