NBC kicked off the summer with swagger as Chris Brown took the stage this morning on "The Today Show” for their summer concert series. Among the set list performed was his fresh new track “Don’t Wake Me Up” from his upcoming album Fortune.
Taking a break from his hard-pumping dance moves, Brown let his voice ring at a fixed mic. Screaming fans in the thousands-heavy crowd held up videophones to capture the heartfelt performance.
“Don’t wake me up…. up, up, up, up, up….” he belted.
In the background, women in black and white striped bottoms took over the dancing responsibilities with their male counterparts.
Brown, a Virginia native, represented his NYC fans, sporting a white Yankees hat. During his “Don’t Wake Me Up” performance he removed a vintage “Snow Beach” jacket from Ralph Lauren that he had been wearing for previous songs.
The new track was produced by French DJ superstar David Guetta. The duo previously collaborated along with Lil Wayne on their hit “I Can Only Imagine” that was featured on Guetta’s fifth studio album Nothing but the Beat. Their new installment showcases Brown’s vocal talents, allowing his lyrics to soar… and soar they did!
"I love you, Team Breezy!" Chris shouted over and over to the audience.
Other songs performed were fan favorites “Turn Up The Music,” “Yeah 3X”, and “Forever.” And just like his glow-in-the-dark performance at the Billboard Awards, today’s set proved that Brown's live show is untouchable.
Next week, Justin Bieber hits the same stage…
With all the people that tend show up for these events, I hope they have re-enforced barricades before the Biebs rolls into town. Otherwise, he might not get out alive.
