Chris Brown is visual innovator. His 2012 Billboard Award was an example of this. But at the end of the day, he’s still a guy. He proves this in his new video “Sweet Love.”
The video hit the internet on Friday and features several sexual references, both indirect and blatantly obvious.
“Let’s get naked just so we can make sweet love,” he sings. “This is the night when I change your life.”
First, “Amazing,” now this? Chris Brown is one confident fellow.
If the lyrics aren’t enough to convince you of his bedroom abilities the visuals certainly will be. In one softly lit scene, Brown walks down an aisle of sleeping nude women on identical iron framed beds. As he walks by the girls, one-by-one they levitate off their respected mattresses in pure heavenly bliss. Brown, the entire time, remains in confident control.
“Making sweet love to you baby / Go ahead and take it off / Let’s get naked.”
(I wish I was kidding about these lyrics.)
Then comes a rain scene where Brown passionately embraces a female friend. Except it’s raining in his bedroom, which you’d think would be bad for the furniture. Add to that slow motion scenes with crisp white sheets and a homoerotic bit where a bunch of guys dance together without shirts, and that about sums it up.
Artistic video glitches and effects are employed throughout the three and a half minute video to portray a jarred sense of reality. Perhaps a memory of a past lover...
The whole thing feels like a colossal metaphor for a message that is blatantly obvious: Chris Brown is horny and he wants to have sex with you… a lot.
“Sweet Love” will appear on Brown’s July 3rd fifth studio album release Fortune.
