Christina Aguilera Memorializes Etta James at Funeral

A week after Etta James has passed away, friends have gathered for the late songstresses funeral and performers like Christina Aguilera and Stevie Wonder were among the standout performers who remembered Etta James by covering her songs.

Christina Aguilera sang Etta James’s classic song “At Last” and just like any other Christina Aguilera song, she slid around the scales to a such a degree that made the song nearly unrecognizable from it’s original composition. Christina has a way of stretching the phrase “At Last” to nearly 10 syllables.

Also, can we talk about Christina Aguilera’s outfit? I know she is super confident with her body, or so she says, but this is a funeral. Her boobs were popping out of her top and while this may be a “Hollywood-style Memorial Service,” let’s put on something that isn’t plunging, shall we? This is a church, not “The Voice.”

Before Christina launched into her song she thanked Etta, “She was the one that cut right into my soul and spoke to me, so tonight, Etta, this song is for you.”

Stevie Wonder performed three songs during the service, including “Shelter in the Rain,” an a cappella version of “The Lord’s Prayer” and a harmonica solo.

Rev. Al Sharpton eulogized the legendary singer, and after Aguilera’s rousing performance he said, “You beat ‘em, Etta. At last, you can find peace now. At last, you can get the gratitude of the savior now. Etta, you made it, you’re going home. At last. At last. At last.”
