The first releases of the month are in and it's slim pickings this week. However, if you’re a fan of alternative country, technical death metal, "House M.D.," or generic alt. rock, then you’re in luck. Here are the new releases for August 6th.

The Civil Wars – The Civil Wars. Back from a hiatus, this duo have brought another LP’s worth of great alt. country music. The album features a cover of the Smashing Pumpkins' song “Disarm” and the track “I Had Me A Girl” was co-produced by Rick Rubin. From Columbia and Sensibility Music.
Iwrestledabearonce – Late For Nothing. The band that takes metal into a different spectrum has rolled out a new album with their new lead singer, Courtney LaPlante. They are out on tour and are still going strong even though their tour bus has broken down a few times. Via Century Media.
Hugh Laurie – Didn’t It Rain. Yes, it’s that Hugh Laurie and this is his second album. If blues, jazz, and tango are your style then Doctor House’s album is for you. From Warner Bros.
The Dangerous Summer – Golden Record. Sound-wise this could be done by any band on the radio. However, if you’re a fan of the band, then you might enjoy their latest effort. Via Hopeless Records.
