The Paradise crooners have now announced their UK tour for next Summer, and they'll kick things off May 29. The tour will start in Conventry's Ricoh Arena and then head to London. Coldplay will take the stage at London's Emirates Stadium on June 1 and 2. From there, they'll take the stage at Stadium of Light in Sunderland. The tour will then end in Manchester's Etihad Stadium on June 9.
Yep, there you have it. Five whole days. I don’t know if that counts as a tour, but I'm sure fans are happy just to see them perform. Tickets go on sale November 18.
Martin recently dished about how the group divides their royalties. He claims that he takes a 40% share, although he's the band's main songwriter. The remainder is split between Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion.
Martin told Howard Stern: "We split things 20, 20, 20, 40 - I get the 40 per cent. I've never told anyone that before. It's not about me being humble, it's important to keep your band and chemistry together."
Martin also revealed to Stern that the first song he wrote was about Fergie's boobs. And no, not the Black Eyed Peas one. The O.G. Fergie—Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York.
"I was 11. It was a terrible song about people being more obsessed with Sarah Ferguson's tits than what was really happening in the world. I kept it clean as you couldn't swear where I was from. I was singing very high and no one was listening."
Martin explains: "It was quite a media-savvy song. I was very socially motivated at that age."
Recently, the band has signed up for Titled Blue Dot, a project that gives fans access to live shows and exclusive material for donations to charities.
The project is set to launch in late November, and when users donate to promoted charities, like BBC Children In Need, they will get tickets to tours. Along with Coldplay, the Stone Roses, Annie Mac and Noel Gallagher have also signed on to the project.
Blue Dot founder Chris Ward said: “I created Blue Dot, as a genuinely new and innovative way to enable every single cause to create that same impact, every single day of the year."
Ward added that the idea had already generated a positive reaction.
