Country Singer Randy Travis, who penned the track, “Forever and Ever, Amen” was arrested yesterday morning for public drunkenness after he was found boozing it up in front of a church.
Really, man? In front of a church? Travis has said that he was drunk after “following an evening celebrating the Super Bowl.”
While that may be true, it’s really creepy that he pulled his car into a church parking lot and kept drinking. According to Sanger Police Department, someone called the cops when they noticed a suspicious vehicle idling by the church. When cops arrived they found Randy Travis drunk and clutching onto an open bottle of wine.
So much is not adding up. Who drinks wine during the super bowl? Also, the arresting officer noted, “Mr. Travis’ speech was slurred, and I was beginning to have a hard time understanding what he was saying.”
He was booked to a nearby Texas jail around 1:30am and was released six hours later. Since then Travis has released this apology, saying that he is “committed to be responsible and accountable.”
That being said, Randy is still planning on going on his US tour which kicks off this Friday in Oregon.
