Brace yourself, 20-year-old former "American Idol" runner-up performed last night in his hometown of Utah and made a shocking announcement to the crowd.
Now, I was running through my mind all possible announcement he could be making...but unlike the audience of his show, I don't think many of us were expected this announcement.
David Archuleta is putting his music career on hold for two-years to become a full-time missionary with the Mormon Church!! Was that what you thought he was going to say? Yah, me neither.
When he made the initial announcement, the crowd as going off! These were like Justin Bieber levels of fan screaming. The screaming was as if Ryan Gosling had just said he was going to pull a name out of a hat and marry whoevers name he pulled. It was that intense of screaming.
Archuleta then started crying and made this emotional announcement,
"It's not because somebody told me that I was supposed to do it, not because that I no longer want to do music anymore, but it's because it's the feeling that I felt that I need to do next in my life," confessed Archuleta.
It's awesome that Archuleta's fans were this moved by his announcement, I guess they were expecting it. There were no "gasps" or "ahhhs." The audience seemed very supportive.
Archuleta continued, "I'm aware that I need to answer when He calls, and that's the reason that I know I need to do this in my life."
Archuleta was the runner up during the 2008 season of Idol, and released his third studio album, The Other Side of Down in 2010.
