Life of a DJ sounds pretty glamorous… world travel… exclusive clubs… the party scene as you day job…
Well, it turns out that the paycheck is just as enchanting as the lifestyle. CelebrityNetWorth has released a list of the 30 Richest DJs in the World. DJ Tiësto, aka Tijs Michiel Verwest, tops the list with a net worth of $65 million.
The Dutch musician soared past big names like Moby, Skrillex, and deadmau5 for the top spot.
With his record-breaking career, it’s easy to see how Tiësto came to earn such a bloated bank account. The artist was the first DJ to sell out a stadium of 30,000, to be voted number one in DJ magazine’s Top 100 three years in a row (2002–04), and to travel the US with a live concert show.
Tiësto is so big in fact, that he was the first and only DJ to land the honored gig of playing the opening ceremony of the Olympics, performing at the summer games at Athens, Greece in 2004.
Rounding up the top three are Paul Oakenfold ($55 mil) and Paul van Dyk ($50 mil), coming in at a close second and third. In an interview with Ask Men, Tiësto described Oakenfold as an ambassador to the genre.
“Of course Paul Oakenfold did a lot for the genre,” he said. “But don't forget all those producers who made those brilliant tracks that made deejays able to let the crowd go wild.”
It seems the student has surpassed his teacher…. At least in terms of monetary value. .
