Rapper Drake is launching a contest to find one lucky up-and-coming hip hop artist to open for him on his upcoming summer tour.
This is all part of a new talent contest, and not win-a-date-with-Drake contest, though you know so many regular girls with zero rap skills are going to show up for the casting call because they think Drake will be there.
Drake has teamed up with OurStage and Real Hip Hop Network to offer emerging artists the chance to be the opening act on his “Club Paradise” tour that kicks off on May 7.
The winner will not only be the opening act, but will join Drake on his 27-city tour and will receive a private, branded tour bus.
OurStage will accept entries through April 30 and fan voting on the best performers will go until May 2, 2012.
The tour kicks off on May 7, 2012 in Concord, California and wraps up on June 17 in Boston. The tour will feature support acts from Kendrick Lamar and A$AP Rocky.
“I fought for this tour,” Drake tells MTV News, “They want me to get the big bucks, go into the stadiums and cash out. But I was just like, I made this album for the people that supported me from day one.”
I don’t really know what that means, but basically if you are a music artist, try to win the opening spot on Drake’s tour.
