Elton John Hospitalized and Cancels Shows
The “Rocket Man” singer spent the morning in the hospital today.

Elton John was rushed to Cedars-Sinai at 6 AM. It is reported that the legend is suffering from a serious respiratory infection.

According to TMZ, John was administered a series of tests which resulted in a doctors prescribing "complete rest and antibiotic treatment to prevent damage." He will not be able to perform for 7 days, putting a damper on some of his upcoming performances.

John cancelled 4 concerts in Las Vegas this weekend. The cancelled shows were part of a three-year residency called “The Million Dollar Piano” at the notorious Colosseum of Caesars Palace. The residency began in September of 2011.

Songs in Elton’s “Million Dollar Piano” set include hits like “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting,” “Bennie and the Jets,” “Levon,” and “Crocodile Rock.”

“It feels strange not to be able to perform these ‘Million Dollar Piano’ concerts at The Colosseum,” said Elton. “I love performing this show and I will be thrilled when we return to The Colosseum in October to complete the eleven concerts soon to be scheduled. All I can say to the fans is sorry I can't be with you. I hope to see you soon at this wonderful theatre at Caesars Palace.”

The 65-year-old singer went on to express his most sincere apologies to fans.

"All I can say to the fans is 'sorry I can't be with you," said John.

In the meantime, he is reportedly back on his feet and checked out of the hospital.

John will be jetting off for a European tour next. Starting June 1st, he will make stops in countries including Germany, England, Ireland, Scotland, and France, performing nearly every other night. He will be wrapping up the tour with five US stops before returning to Vegas in October.

No rest for the weary…
