Following that enigmatic hat Eminem put out recently, the crossword puzzle of the rap community that’s possibly announcing a future solo album dropping in 2013, there’s some more concrete news of another forthcoming album releasing next year with his name on it. Now it’s not exactly his, but he is putting inscribing “Eminem” to it as executive producer: the debut album, Don’t Look Down, from Skylar Grey.
It’s no surprise that Eminem would lend Skylar his support. She wrote the hook to all three versions of his and Rihanna’s “Love the Way You Lie,” one of which ended up being the highest selling single of 2010 and secured her with two Grammy Award nominations. He’ll even appear on her lead single from the album, due out in Spring 2013 called “C’mon Let Me Ride.” Predisposed to darker themes and vocals, this upcoming track is supposedly a breath of fresh air for the singer and rapper.
“This new single with Em, in particular, is very exciting,” Skylar said in a statement. “We have worked on so many serious songs together – it’s a nice change of pace to do something fun and sarcastic."
The video for “C’mon Let Me Ride” was shot in Detroit last week with Em in tow and will be released when the song does on December 11.
“When I was working on Recovery I was introduced to Skylar by Alex Da Kid and I was blown away with her talent as both a songwriter and vocalist,” said Eminem. “This album is really going to give her a chance to connect with the fans who probably know her music, but might not know her yet. I think they will be as impressed as I am.”
