This time last year, Eminem boasted 10 Grammy award nominations, including record, song, and album of the year. He had more nominations than any other artist last year, he was like the Kanye West of 2011. However, when showtime came around, he only took home two awards for Best Rap Album for his "Recovery" album and Solo Rap Performance for the single, "Not Afraid."
Many claimed it was an upset and that Eminem was robbed of victories. How could you get that many nominations with so few wins? Now, Eminem is nominated for two Grammys for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for his song "I Need a Doctor" with Dr. Dre and Skylar Grey and for the same song in the category of Best Rap Song.
So with Eminem in his element, nominated exclusively in the the rap category, will he take home both awards on February 12?
Eminem has a long history with The Grammy Awards. He has won 13 Grammy awards since he debuted "The Slim Shady LP" in 2000. He only goes a year or two without winning at least one award.
Regardless if Eminem takes home a Grammy or not this year, he's obviously had a great year in music.
After collaborating with Royce da 5'9" as one half of Bad Meets Evil, the duo released their EP, "Hell: The Sequel" in June 2011 and combined with his release of "Recovery" from the previous year, Eminem became the first artist in five years to have two number one albums in a 12-month period.
However, Eminem is up against artists like Kanye West for "All of The Lights" and Rihanna & Drake with "What's My Name" and Chris Brown's mega-hit that has been sweeping music awards show all summer, "Look At Me Now."
The Grammys will air live from L.A.’s Staples Center on Sunday, February 12, at 8 p.m. on CBS. Tune in to find out which of your favorite artists goes home a winner.
