If you haven’t heard of her yet, you will now. Pitchfork loves her. Billboard loves her. The Guardian loves her. Pretty much every credible music publication can’t get enough of her...and neither can we.
Twigs has seemingly popped up from nowhere. She posted a music video for her first single, “Water Me,” in August of last year, and everybody lost their shit. The video features an up-close shot of her doll-like face singing along to the ethereal, airy production of Arca (who lent a hand on Kanye’s Yeezus).
The thing that makes FKA Twigs special is not only her celestial vocals, but her absolute weirdness. She’s so weird that it’s intriguing. Her huge eyes, gap teeth, and spastic dance moves are captivating and enchanting.
Twigs not only stars in her own artistic music videos, she also choreographs and directs them. Earlier this week, she released a music video for her new single, “Two Weeks.” You can watch it below:
FKA Twigs’ debut album LP1 will be dropping on Young Turks (home of SBTRKT and Jamie xx) next month.
