“They say I’m not a star and they’re probably right / But I didn’t work my whole life to take their advice / Don’t look like Channing Tatum, can’t sing like J.T. / But one thing I’ll never do is let it break me.”
In his new video, “Pretending Perfection,” rising hip-hop/R&B star Huey Mack tells the story of a frustrated creative mind staying true to his vision in the often confining environment of the music industry. The single is the title track off his debut LP, a venture that came together in under a year.
“This project tells my story - the ups and downs, the perks of being a hip-hop artist, and the struggle of being a small town West Virginia native trying to make a name in the industry,” Mack says in a statement. “I'm very proud of this project and am excited to finally share it with everyone.”
