Ja Rule Sentenced to 28 Months in Jail on Tax Charges

Ja Rule was just sentenced to 28 months in prison on tax charges after he failed to file tax returns with the IRS for five years. How do you just forget to file taxes? Someone has some ‘splanin to do.

Ja Rule pleaded guilty to three to five counts before U.S. Magistrate Judge Patty Shwartz.

Between 2004 through 2008, Ja Rule has received royalties from ASJA Inc. and performances income from Rule Tours Inc., but failed to file tax returns. How does something like that just slip your mind?

He owes $1,137,912 and will spend the next two years trying not to drop the soap.

"Taxpayers do not have the luxury of deciding whether to comply with laws," Shwartz said in sentencing. She further sentenced him to a year of supervised release.

After the sentence he said he regretted what his imprisonment would mean for his family. "I've got three kids," he said. "If there was anything that I regret, I regret that they have to go through this with me, and I'm not going to be there for them."

Why celebs think they’re above the law is beyond me. Seriously Ja, don’t drop the soap.
