Janet Jackson is done with music for a while. She’s been dabbling in movies lately, and seems to have found her niche for the time being.
According to Janet’s ex-boyfriend and music producer Jermaine Dupri, we won’t be hearing any new singles from her because she only wants to release new tracks “every once in a while.”
Her latest was a song on the Why Did I Get Married Too soundtrack,
which Janet is also in. “She’s looked at the marketplace — albums are not really doing what they usually do when you put all this budget out there,” he said. “Janet is just trying to figure out her landscape.
Dupri thinks his ex’s decision to leave music for a little while is smart. He says, “Janet’s cool. She has a lot of work going on that’s keeping her in the right direction. The movie came out… [and] it looks like her star power as an actress is still there.
Coming up next for Janet is another film, and this one sounds like it has major star power. Jermaine says, “She’s about to do the other movie, For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf, with Mariah Carey, Kerry Washington and Whoopi Goldberg.”
Anything Oprah is attached to turns to gold so we say go for it, Janet!
