President Obama made headlines last week when he spoke out in favor of gay marriage. Now some of music's biggest stars are showing their support for gay rights.
In an interview with CNN on Monday, the Brooklyn born rapper and entrepreneur was asked about Obama's support for gay marriage and shocked many by saying, "I've always thought it as something that was still, um, holding the country back. What people do in their own homes is their business and you can choose to love whoever you love. That's their business. It's no different than discriminating against blacks. It's discrimination plain and simple."
You tell 'em Jay!
And of course he's not the only one. Lady Gaga expressed happiness via Twitter when she heard the President's statement tweeting, "Obama, congratulations on being the first sitting president to support marriage equality."
In an interview with Glamour magazine, Miley Cyrus compared not allowing same sex marriage with racism. The Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine also added quote, "The fact that gay marriage isn't legal everywhere is a joke."
Pink's showed support by featuring a same sex wedding in video for "Raise Your Glass". Singer Ricky Martin offered his props as well, saying, "I applaud President @barackobama for affirming that ALL Americans should enjoy equal rights. Historic!" The gay singer finally came in 2010. Out and proud Adam Lambert also praised the president for setting a good example.
