Sure, the Olympics got The Spice Girls, but the Paralympics are getting the Hov…
Jay-Z will make an appearance during the closing ceremony of the 2012 Paralympics. The high-profile appearance will play out for a worldwide audience of one billion.
According to the UK’s Daily Mirror, the “Otis” rapper is promising the ceremony’s organizers an “incredible performance.” If his Grammy awards and number one hits weren’t enough, the guarantee has convinced them that his appearance will help sell out the remaining available tickets.
The rapper will join the stage with Coldplay and reportedly will do a duet together.
“Jay-Z and Chris Martin are close friends so he helped to get the rapper on board,” a source told the Mirror. “They are putting together a spectacular set list – one likely to include a duet.”
In addition to sharing the stage with his friend, the 42-year-old hip-hop mogul and dad has agreed to sign on as a way of giving back to the inspirational Paralympics athletes that have defied all odds and become champions.
“The Paralympics has exceeded all expectation and, like the rest of the world, Jay-Z has been blown away by their bravery and athleticism,” the source continued. In addition to having Jay-Z on slate, the event will be getting even more hip-hop flavor when Rihanna takes the stage. The “Talk That Talk” singer will take the stage to sing “Princess of China” with Coldplay. The duet made a warm up appearance together during a stop in Paris this weekend.
Rihanna is also expected to perform her hit “Umbrella” during the event.
The star-studded Paralympics closing ceremony kicks off this Sunday in London.
