Dish Nation’s Jenna Owens is part of the Dallas-based Kidd Kraddick In The Morning radio show team, which is syndicated in over 75 markets and also includes Kellie Rasberry, Big Al Mack (Alaric Mack) and J-Si (Jose Chavez).
Jenna is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, where she attended Saint Ursula Academy. She went on to attend college at Miami University, Ohio, where her broadcasting journalism career began with their local college television station. Initially covering the local crime scene, she realized her personality was much more suited to the goofy and the ridiculous and opted to head to Dallas where she eventually landed a job with Kidd Kraddick In The Morning. Her most career-defining moments to date include interviewing Adam Samberg and meeting Neil Young backstage at Bonnaroo.
Jenna currently resides in Dallas, Texas with her pug, Maximus (and she’s happy her Mom, Candy, is nearby in Austin).

Take us through your day, starting from when you wake up.
My alarm goes off at 4:00am. Snooze. The second one goes off at 4:15am. I pass on that one too. I actually end up rolling out of bed at 4:20; brush my teeth; maybe a cup of coffee, if I'm lucky and head to work in my pajamas. I always leave clothes there to put on because I like wearing my pajamas as long as physically possible. I blast a Spotify playlist for my 12 minute drive. Lately I've been listening to Phantogram, Bear Hands, Rebel Yell by Billy Idol on repeat because that's my new karaoke song I'm trying to learn, and Kanye. I always listen to Blood on the Leaves for some reason.
I do that whole talking thing for radio and then our TV show Dish Nation – leaving around lunchtime. I eat a light lunch or have just a protein shake, walk my pug Maximus, take at least 20 non-Instagram worthy photos of him and then we nap together. Around 4pm I head to the gym and workout until I'm exhausted and I go home to catch up on the news and watch whatever shows are on that night. I usually do about 1-2 hours of work each night before bed to prepare for the next day. I would like to think I go to bed at 10, but honestly it's more like 11.
What is the best part of your job?
I get paid to talk about movies and music. I despise how early I have to get up. But I always go back to the fact that going to movies and concerts is considered research for my job. How many people are able to say that? I also love (maybe too much) the fact that I can wear jorts to the office.
When did you get your big break?
I know one particular answer during my audition for The Kidd Kraddick Morning Show struck a chord with Kidd. He asked me what kind of guys I like and I told him quite matter-of-factly, "I can rule guys out with one simple question. Name your top 5 favorite bands. If Nickelback is ever mentioned, he's done." I like to think that good musical taste helped me out:)
What is your high school make-out song?
I was a late bloomer. I gave this guy the Hello Nasty Beastie Boys album because we both loved the song Intergalactic. We technically weren't listening to it when we kissed on my trampoline, but it was playing in my mind;)
Where would you like to see yourself in five years?
On a pug farm with my pug rescue dogs/turned boy band Pug Zeppelin. Or I suppose this whole 'talking on the TV' job thing has some potential too. I also hope I can nail my Rebel Yell karaoke cover by then.
