Jennifer Hudson Sings Happy Birthday to President Obama

Watch out, Michelle. Jennifer Hudson sang Happy Birthday to President Barack Obama to ring in his 50th birthday Tuesday night.

The Grammy winner gave a more soulful rendition than Marilyn Monroe's sultry version for JFK. But that didn’t stop the comparisons from being made.

A crowd of 2,400 gathered for a special Democratic fundraiser at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago and the room went wild.

“I could not have a better early birthday present than spending tonight with all of you,” he told the crowd. “It is true that I turn 50 tomorrow, which means that by the time I wake up, I will have an email from AARP, asking me to call President Obama and tell him to protect Medicare.”

Yeah, good luck with that. Chris Rock and Stevie Wonder were also in attendance.

Hudson is reportedly a size 0 now and wore a gorgeous little black dress that showed off her new figure. While Jennifer might not have been intentionally channeling Marilyn Monroe, there are plenty of celebs who have.



Lindsay Lohan has paid homage to Marilyn on more than one occasion. There was, of course, the infamous nude photo shoot that was Marilyn's last. Lindsay recreated the shoot for New York Magazine. Lohan has also reportedly wanted to change her last name to Monroe. Although I don’t think Marilyn was known for her court wardrobe.

Mariah Carey loves Marilyn Monroe, and she even went so far as to name one of her kids after the actress. She also spent $662,500 for Monroe's white baby grand piano and has said she'll donate it to a museum when she dies.

Paris Hilton was so bold to out rightly claim she's the Marilyn Monroe of her era.

"I think every decade has an iconic blond - like Marilyn Monroe or Princess Diana - and right now, I'm that icon."

I'll just leave that one alone.

Scarlett Johansson often channels Marilyn on the red carpet, and with her curves, class and talent, she's probably the most reasonable comparison.

Anna Nicole Smith might have been the most famous Marilyn aficionado. She worked tirelessly to mimic her childhood idol. And as a result, there were many similarities. Like Marilyn, Anna was abandoned by her family as a child. She also battled drug and alcohol abuse, which eventually led to her untimely death. Eerily similar to Marilyn.

Megan Fox loves Marilyn Monroe so much; she has a tattoo of her on her arm. She claims she doesn’t see Monroe as an idol, but has the tattoo to remind her not to make the same career mistakes. Yeah, that makes sense. Why not get a matching tat of Charlie Sheen while you're at it?
