J. Lo Faces $40 Million Lawsuit

Jennifer Lopez is facing a humongous lawsuit over a gig that she was scheduled to play at the end of the month.

She was slated to perform in Northern Cyprus at an upscale hotel on July 24th. But she later scrapped the plans because that part of the world is not recognized by either the United Nations or the European Union because it is currently occupied illegally by the Turkish military.

Greek and Cypriot politicians were furious to hear claims that Lopez had agreed to perform, so she canceled.

Her rep released a statement saying: "Jennifer Lopez would never knowingly support any state, country, institution or regime that was associated with any form of human rights abuse. After a full review of the relevant circumstances in Cyprus, it was the decision of management to withdraw from the appearance. This was a team decision that reflects our sensitivity to the political realities of the region."

But according to the AP, now the hotel is pissed, and is threatening a $40 million lawsuit! The hotel and casino’s rep stated:

"The contract has not been terminated. If she does not show up for the concert, we will begin a procedure in the courts to claim 35-40 million dollars in damages. The cancellation….is not covered by any clause in the contract she signed with us.”

That is a ton of money!!! Seems like J. Lo is between a rock and a hard place and can’t really do anything about it!
