The American Music Awards are this coming Sunday, which means you can expect some of the biggest names in music to be under one roof and you can expect a ton of awesome performances.
We just found out that Jennifer Lopez will team up with Will.i.am for a special performance at the 2011 American Music Awards on Sunday after recently being in the studio together. I mean, J.Lo and Will.i.am together? That’s amazeballs. That’s definitely one performance I don’t want to miss.
J.Lo has been super secretive about her collaboration with Will. They were in the studio together last month in New York and the only reason we know that is because he tweeted to her. “It was great working with you today in the studio before our concert in central park.”
In addition to J.Lo and Will.i.am, the AMAs will feature pairings from Pitbull with Marc Anthony and Lil Jon, Gym Class Heroes with Adam Levine, Maroon 5 with Christina Aguilera, and opening act Nicki Minaj with David Guetta.
Meanwhile, Nicki Minaj and David Guetta will open the awards show and Chris Harrison and Vanessa Minnillo will host the pre-show. In addition, the online pre-show "Coca-Cola Red Carpet LIVE! @ the 2011 AMAs," will be hosted by Lance Bass, Michael Buckley, Estelle, Sarah Hyland, Audrina Patridge, Josh Sussman and Xzibit, will stream live for fans worldwide starting at 2 p.m. at ABC.com. So many hosts, so many shows. I’m going to need a google calendar to keep track of all of these.
So how will the voting work for the big show? AMA nominees are selected from both BigChampagne's Ultimate Chart and Mediabase. The Ultimate Chart is a ranked list of the most popular artists and songs based on a weighted combination of music sales, radio and TV broadcast, internet streaming and video viewing, and incorporating additional online metrics, including activity on social networks. Mediabase monitors more than 1,800 radio stations in 180 U.S. and Canadian markets, 24 hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week and provides vital airplay and programming information to more than 1,700 affiliate radio stations and every major broadcast group. Winners are chosen by public vote online.
The 39th annual awards will be broadcast live from the NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE on Sunday, November 20, at 8 p.m. on ABC. Who will you be rooting for this coming Sunday? And which performance are you most looking forward to?
